Andrea Marcellus has over 25 years of experience in the fitness world.
"One size fits all plans do not work for anyone for the long haul. It has to be what fits in your life," she explained.
As an author and creator of the "And/Life" fitness app, she tries to teach her clients that exercise can be done anywhere.
"On my App, I purposely have exercises at your desk so that people can fit fitness into their lives no matter what," Marcellus said.
With anxiety and fears on the rise due to COVID-19, Marcellus advises you to get moving outside.
"Just being out in green, occupies your brain in a really positive way that helps shift your attention and then before you know it, you're in a more mentally focused space and you're in a more positive progressive thinking space," she explained.
She recommends just four simple daily goals to keep you on track:
Eat on a schedule and keep portions in check.
"On my method, we measure with hands not calories because that's annoying. We're not a math problem. We're people," she explained, with a laugh.
Drink plenty of water and limit high-calorie beverages to two a day.
Exercise for just 20 minutes a day.
"Some days you might want to do more, but generally if you keep it at 20 minutes a day, you can be consistent. And the biggest effect with anxiety is what are you doing consistently to handle it," Marcellus said.
Standing more, which generates energy and helps you lose weight.
And for the fastest results? Marcellus says get on a schedule and stick to it.
"Keeping it small and trusting that it's enough. It really is," she said.
Finally, she says to be kind to yourself, especially during this pandemic. She says know who you are and make decisions that are best for you.
"Every time you make a choice about what's worth it in your life, you decide you're worth it," she said emphatically.
Marcellus has an app called "And/Life" where she suggests workouts. There is even a 30-day free trial.
Her book called "The Way In" gives you five winning strategies to lose weight, get strong and lift your life.
Her website and Instagram page both have fitness and wellness tips to help lessen your anxiety and get moving.
